As a co-founder of Springboard momentum Dr. Erkis helped to pioneer the Springboard model and helps to oversee the operations of the organization as a whole. Also the founder of Stratas Consulting Group, Dr. Erkis has helped hundreds of families as a therapeutic and educational placement specialist. He is also an expert in the field of mental health, having worked in a variety of therapeutic settings, including: clinical staff member for an inpatient psychiatric hospital, family divorce counselor, outpatient therapist, and senior therapist in one of the country's top wilderness therapy programs.
He holds an M.A. in Counseling and Social Psychology from Ball State University, a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Pennsylvania State University, and completed his pre-doctoral internship at The Ohio State University. As an educator he has taught courses in group therapy, dual diagnosis (co-occurring drug and alcohol issues), treatment, and counseling theory at Pennsylvania State University and Ball State University. He is also a trained interventionist.
He is a published author on counseling, therapeutic options, and the mental health industry. He is currently writing a book “When all Else Fails: A Guide for Parents Considering Out-of-Home-Placement for Their Struggling Teen."
